Those Yank loathing Brits over at Top Gear kick off a new season this Sunday.  Check your local listings and set your DVR.

. . . proclaims Jeremy Clarkson in his comparison of the Audi R8 powerd by a Lamborghini 5.2 litre V10.  Clarkson never fails to amuse as he LICKS the Audi’s steering wheel.  There is one thing I have learned when watching Clarson, never be in the middle of drinking something.

Part one:

Part two:

Watching the Cadillac get driven into the ditch by a Brit was absolutely priceless.  Now I need to wipe the coffee from the monitor I spit out laughing my ass off when it happened.  Classic.

You either love the Top Gear guys or hate them, but they never fail to entertain.  I was laughing at Clarkson when he commented about the Italians switching sides half way through.  Classic.

More Top Gear railings against the Vette.

. . . . according to Jeremy Clarkson, co-host of the British Television production Top Gear, in his video review of the C6 Corvette.

Other colorful quotes in the video from Clarkson include;

“The Americans have never been able to make a car at all, its just not in their nature….”

“. . . and the cars they’ve never been able to make most of all are sports cars, like the Corvette.”

“. . . all Corvetts, all of them for the last 50 years or so, have been the same, pretty but . . . . vomit inducing rubbish.”

The Corvette has a “live rear axle from a 60s triumph and a 5.7 V8 that produces the same horsepower as a European food mixer.”

The Venom GT

I consider myself a car enthusaist who happens (Lucky) to drive a Corvette.  As I stated in the posting about the new Mustang GT, you will see stories about other cars of interest here in addition to Corvettes, and boy oh boy is this new creation from Hennessey something special.

Here is an excerpt from the press release.  Read it in full here

“The Venom GT’s base power plant is the supercharged 6.2 liter LS9 V8 (the same as in the Corvette ZR1) tweaked by Hennessey to 725 bhp. The company will also be offering 1000 bhp and 1200 bhp twin turbo V8 engine variants. The mid-engine V8 will transmit its power to the rear tires via a Ricardo 6-speed gearbox. “

I’ll run down to my local bank and apply for a $600K car loan tomorrow.  For now however, I am downloading the music from Itunes.
